Developing A Marketing Plan To Produce Income Streams

This is a programme of six one day modules that follows on logically from the introductory "Importance of Income Streams In Social Enterprises" one day workshop for Trustees and Executives.  Once a Social Enterprise has agreed that they should investigate income stream development, the best results will come from using all the ideas that all the management team volunteer to identify, evaluate, launch, promote and analyse the areas where income growth looks most likely.  It's worth taking the risk of going outside your comfort zone to find out how you can make this happen.

By using this modular method, the key to this approach is facilitating discovery with each individual in the management team.

Components of these six integrated modules

This series of six modules can help develop realistic plans for income streams through:

  • Determine the size of the "Income Gap" that is likely to occur in the Social Enterprise over the next three years
  • Conduct a SWOT analysis with the senior management team to benchmark their position in the marketplace
  • Brainstorming with the senior management team ideas to identify new areas of potential income
  • Conduct Market Research into these areas to evaluate whether there is a feasible market for new income
  • Get customer reaction and input by organising focus groups; and listen to their feedback and ideas from a users point of view
  • Conduct competitive analysis to see what alternative suppliers are offering and what prices they are charging
  • Refine your product and service offerings by evaluating what features and benefit advantages you can offer that customers will buy
  • Consider the likely product life cycle events
  • Prioritise the ideas that look like they will give the fastest and best return
  • Write up a marketing plan including a forecast of positive income stream
  • Launch the plan and measure the results against the forecast
